Poem: Spiritual Fires

upon the winds of descending grace

a dawning power impregnates space

and time awakens a new moment’s breath

a cleansing flood of spiritual fires

razing the foundations of old worlds

creating from ashes a liberated life.

Poem: one second in Eternity

a Witness Eye gazing across open horizons

a flowing mass of innumerable suns

streaking scenes of limitless activity

within a womb of immobility

each moment a spark of Divinity’s joy

each life a second in Eternity

radiant hues of infinite beauty

a perpetual canvass painting poetry

manifesting smiles of widening Soul

ever deepening within expansive space

seeking the Freedom of each moment’s unity

vision-bursts breathing small immensities

light-dreams dancing interwoven worlds

a universal tale of unbroken time

dawning seeds of the Future’s undying Whole

awakening the Supreme’s vast identities

as the birth of each moment into realities

The Great Story

There is a story to be discovered in everything.  Each moment of life is intimately connected to everything in one way or another.  Even a grain of sand has its story to tell, a particle vision of the Earth’s history and existence, its march of life emerging from apparent nothingness.  Were we to gaze deeply into the intimate presence of a stone or a tree or a drop of water, the flight of a bird or the motions of a dancer, the smile of a child or the terrors of war, we would find vibrating within each of these a story which is its own and yet which connects with all other stories.  Each of us, each of our Souls, is echoing, breathing, awakening an epic story in itself, which is limited not to our present life but to the history of the Earth and the vastness of a Soul experience which transcends time and space, history and humanity.  We are many stories within One Story which is unfolding, becoming something that we are still uncertain about, and perhaps even afraid of because it is so unknown and mysterious.  We often feel alone in our stories, in our traveled lives, but we are more and more as a human collective growing closer together in our story, relating our stories and realizing that all is this One Story that dwells in each of us, which we define in many ways – many different and seemingly divergent ways – but which ultimately are united by something that breathes and lives through everything and everyone: the Great Storymaker who is not just Beyond but dwells in the heart of all things, who tells the story by living it fully in His/Her/Its own Infinite and Eternal Body, a supreme story of Matter and Spirit manifesting the Divine.

Even as I write these words here there is a story unfolding within me.  The very act of sharing these words, putting them into a more material existence, involves releasing the story within me, which is, in itself, also a part of the story, a part of the creative manifestation of the life within this Soul.  My story is very simple and very human, but it is also very divine and very difficult.  For ultimately while the story of my life is of course a personal story,  I cannot really call it my own story, for as I have said we are all united in our stories, in our lives, by every living moment that we experience.  Each moment echoes itself throughout existence and builds a growing harmony of an intimately woven tapestry of Souls, fusing towards an unknown future which is simply more of who we are, more of the Divine.  My story is an insignificantly small part of this unfolding Moment that we are living within.  Yet it is a thread of the Whole which may reveal some unique part of the Great Story, and this Great Storymaker within us all, which others may have not yet noticed.  Your story too is emerging from within this Great Story, and is a part of what will ultimately lift up humanity as we learn to see ourselves in each other, and the Divine Storyteller in All.  This world is indeed becoming more and more Our Story, where your story is now becoming a part of mine, and mine a part of yours.

The one question which has dominated my life has been, “Who am I?”  It has been like a consuming fire in my heart, even in my body.  What are we?  What is this life?  What is the Truth?  Everyone seems to have at least a trace of this wondering within them, yet few seem to want it enough to let go of what their lives have become in order to truly find the answers.  For me, there has always seemed to be nothing else but this; this fire to know the Truth, to breathe it, to reach for it, to become it if possible.  If we closely observe a child’s nature, curiosity is at the very core of their experience.  Extreme curiosity.  Pure and uninhibited curiosity.  They desperately want to Experience, they sincerely, innocently, want to know who they truly are and are seeking it intimately through every breath and every step and every glance and every attempt of living what they make.  Their every act is a seeking to the questions of Who Am I? Who Are We? What Is Life?  If we look at ourselves closely also, this is what our own lives are about, though as humans grow this question recedes into the background, behind the veil of all the things that we have come to know (or think we know) and the hardened habits of our mental and physical lives.  We build habits out of our experiences and the knowledge which has come from those experiences.  On the one hand this is a necessary and positive thing for our growth as individuals, and yet on the other hand it is the very obstacle that must be overcome if we are to truly dive into the depths of our nature, take a step beyond our small constructed world and open ourselves to a Truth which is far more all-encompassing and vast then we could ever imagine.  We must unlearn what we have learned, as uttered by the iconic figure Yoda in the Star Wars films.  We must let go of who we think we are, what we think we know, what we have experienced, what we have.  Everything, everything, EVERYTHING must be released in all the parts of our being to allow something new to enter into our reality and shape us into the new figures of the future which lies beyond us, but also within us.  We must become once again like a child, like a newborn baby who looks upon the world, and even more importantly ourselves and our inner natures, with a certain element of Wonder and Curiosity.  This curiosity is in essence Energy, it is Attention, it is our concentrated awareness which directs our Being towards whatever it is we are curious about.  Where we place our attention is where our Consciousness goes; it is where the Life Energy that animates existence and our inner awareness becomes focused, becoming a creative force in our lives for shaping who we are and how we grow.

We must truly burn with this question, “Who Am I?”, to the point where it consumes everything within us, guiding us with its power to pierce through the layers of our ignorance and knowledge until something bursts forth from behind our veils.  It is in answering this question, or rather in exploring and becoming the Fire that lies at the heart of this question, which will awaken a Greater Story for humanity than it has ever yet to Be or to Live.

The Earth’s Destiny

The Earth has a destiny.

It is such a simple thing to notice when we observe life closely.  When we look around us in nature, or even look at ourselves, we can see growth, we can observe change, however small or apparently insignificant it may seem to our minds, our perceptions, in everyday life.  A seed does not remain a seed forever.  It blossoms into a flower.  It emerges as a tree.  It is born in the body and spirit of a child.  There exists in every moment a very subtle movement – a movement which implies a journey of something towards something more.  An evolution.  And yet, do we ask ourselves what this movement of growth, of change, really is?  And where is it heading?

In every seed, therein lies the entire blueprint for the future growth and emergence of the potential powers and possibilities of what lies within the depths of the seed.  It cannot deviate from its path.  Even if that seed should perish in an apparent premature death, that death was meant to be.  The seed holds within it its own destiny.  Not an entirely fixed, determined destiny, but a broader, wider Destiny which allows for all possibilities and paths to have their potential realization within the One Path that is unfolding everything, always, Eternally and Infinitely.

And yet what is it to say that the Earth has a destiny?  Humanity has explored in countless ways their own individual destinies, contemplating their past, their present, and always attempting to foresee the future; it plays with its ideas of free-will, of fate and chance, of life’s purpose and meaning along the lines of so many philosophies and theories and intellectual speculations.  We seem to contemplate so many of the pieces, and yet what of the whole?  We forget that humanity is merely a small chapter in the story of the Earth, although we do like to think ourselves a much grander, superior achievement.  But we are only perhaps the third chapter in the Earth’s Book of Life.  And there are infinite volumes beyond awaiting to be revealed and created.

It is the Earth that has shaped us.  An Earth not merely material, seemingly unconscious and inert, but an Earth which is as fluid as its waters, as ethereal as its gaseous air, as alive as its multiplicity of plants, insects, animals and humans.  Anfreeimage.circotasu-1964232 Earth which is itself a seed.  A seed that has been sprouting for many ages, which has grown from matter’s unconscious, lifeless elements and particles into the emergence of the single-celled organism – the Earth begins to breathe a little differently.  A diversity of microbial insects and plants, fungus, germs and bacteria, alive and breathing.  Yet the Earth marches onward like an aspiring worker, shaping itself into more advanced plant-life and bugs, and creatures of a most millennial pursuit – a multitudinous harmony of cellular replications and growth! – towards the ever-larger and almost self-aware creatures and animals who emerge as one more leap of the Earth into a realm of experience which it had not been capable of with the life of plants – a slow-growing mutation into the bare beginnings of Mentality.  Not the mentality of humans yet, but still a small leap from the inert stone- life into a more active, dynamic, mobile life: yet another new breath.  A slightly more free life in a diverse play of an enhanced vital nature, pursuing the beginnings of Need and Desire, of Instinct and Choice, of enhanced sensitivities and senses, of pleasure and pain, and a striving to survive, to live.  And then, again, as its experience widens, increases, the Earth pursues another leap, a fresh experience and perspective of its own existence, its own creativity, its own truth.  Humanity becomes the Earth’s next field of play.  A humanity which is mental in its very nature, which takes the lower mentality exhibited by the animal and realizes a higher mode of experiencing and perceiving and choosing.  An enhanced Mind with an intelligence that questions, explores, chooses according to a little higher vantage point, yet a little wider perspective…….

……Matter begins to look upon Itself ……

…….to observe itself and seek answers about its own existence:  The how, the why, the where, the what.  The Earth begins to seek knowledge.

And yet a new danger arose with the leap towards a mental humanity.  The danger that a small bit of knowledge can have for a Knowledge which is Infinite:  imprisonment……suffocation.  The human mind grasps at knowledge and sometimes gets lost in its infinity.  And so it begins to perceive the world according to the small part it has the capacity to understand.  It clings.  It divides.  It sees many pieces but can’t seem to reconcile the Everything with each other, each part with the Whole.

Mental humanity has perceived itself as separate from the very seed it once appeared from.  Matter appears to humanity as something dead and incapable of consciousness, even though its own body, mind, and consciousness arose from the depths of this apparent bedrock and mud.  Humanity has lost the inherent sense and vision of Matter’s Destiny, of the Earth’s profound and inevitable Future – which is neither a strictly Material Future nor a Spiritual Future…..but a dynamic Merging and Transcendence of both into……Something Else.

Love and Human Unity

There are many qualities and powers of life that will need to be involved in the building of Human Unity upon Earth.  Yet, ultimately the presence of  a true Human Unity will emerge through one key Divine Power that lies at the Essence of humanity and life:

Human Unity will exist only through humanity’s capacity to Love each other totally and completely, without placing conditions upon our ability to love in any situation or with any human being, without asking “why” or wondering “how,” without needing any justifications.

A One Love which loves every human as a part of oneself, as a part of one same Mind, Life-Force, Spirit, Body, Soul, and Divine Existence.

A Perfect and Harmonious Love which offers ItSelf in a pure, unique manner and way that is right for each individual situation, each relationship, each person, which inspires in each Being the perfect action and movement to make in the exact right moment.

A Free Love which loves humanity whether one receives love in return or not, which offers love and infuses love into all Life around it.

An Expressive Love which gives ItSelf to all humanity as its own manifestation of Beauty.

An Infinite Love which loves all humanity’s diversity and gives humans the capacity to Identify ourselves with every human and all that exists as an intimate part of ourselves, our Soul-Being which contains All.

A Courageous Love which loves also the darkest side of human nature, the ignorant and the false and the painful, even as we seek to transform it.

A True Love which reveals the intimate union of our minds as the One Mind; a Love which reveals the intimate union of our life-force as the One Vital; a Love which reveals the intimate union of our material bodies, our infinite Cells, as the One Body; a Love which reveals the intimate union of our individual souls as the One Soul existent in All.

A Powerful Love which surrenders our entire personal and collective Existence – our identities, our personalities, our desires and preferences and wishes, our thoughts, ideas, feelings, sensations, and actions, our very breath and vision, our total perception and experience of Reality; surrendering ourselves to That which is beyond humanity, to that Great Something Else which inspires the very Evolution and Unfolding of every moment, every atom and cell and Soul, every movement of Life.

An Intimate Love which binds atoms together to create form, a Love which binds cells together to create Life,  a Love that vibrates our existence in unison as the One Same Force of Consciousness, Force of Life, Force of Substance, Force of Love Itself – the Divine in ItSelf Embodied as Humanity and all of Existence.

A Nurturing Love which embraces the Universe as a Whole while caressing every particle and each human as a vibration and manifestation of Its own Divine Substance of Love.

A Consuming Love which dissolves and transforms all perception or experience of division and separation, which awakens the intimate Oneness that dwells within and between every cell, every mind, every heart, every body and Soul.

A Vast Love which sees all as Love, which feels all as Love, which knows all as Love.  A Love which is capable of loving each human as That Love Supreme, for We Are That Love.  There is nothing but That Love.

A Love which simply Is All Humanity at its core,

and which, through humanity and Life, expresses Love

as the Beauty of  an Infinitely and Eternally Unfolding Divine Unity.
